Difficulty in overcoming enemies within

By Pastor Layi Bamidele

Though Goliath is an intimidating Giant, David found it easy to overcome him than to overcome Saul. Goliath is a known enemy, but Saul was an enemy that disguised as a friend. Saul was using David to fight the wicked Philistians, he did not fancy the idea  that David will be the one to take over from him.

He was using David to fight the Philistians yet he did not want him to survive the battlefield. Saul knew that God has abandoned him, and that David was a potential candidate to take over from him. He was aware that the Lord had rejected him, and that as he decreased, David was bound to increase.

After David overcame Goliath, he was on his way to the break-down level. The breakdown level is the level where don’t need to fight but God fights your battles for you. All the while David has been fighting and gathering exper-ience. When Saul started with his envy, David needed not to fight, he was at his breakdown zone.

God broke Saul down for David’s sake. I don’t know the battles you have been fighting all these while, but God will break down your enemies for your sake.

When God helps you to the  break down, all your enemies will be like grass under your feet. The break-down zone is the last zone before you enter into your winning zone. God broke Saul down for David to enter into his winning zone.

Saul became an enemy within, even as David was fighting for him to keep the throne, he was looking for how to kill David. Many people that you are fighting tooth and nail to be free from the trap of the devil will turn back against you to fight you unjustly.

Pharaoh was an enemy within who used the children of Israel for labour, and when it was time when God told them it was time for their freedom, Pharaoh refused to heed to the instruction of God and his destiny was destroyed. Pharaoh did not want to release the children of Israel, but God arose on their behalf and brought them out on an eagle’s wings.

God demonstrated the deliver-ance process to Moses with the burning bush. The bush was burning but not consumed. This is an indication that things might be hot and uneasy now, but the fire will have a soothing and beautify-ing effect at the end. The fire will not destroy you.

After being tried, you will come out as pure gold. When the children of Israel got to their breakdown zone, the same Pharaoh that vowed never to allow them go, was the same person that asked them to go after God broke him down. The Angel of the Lord killed all the first born of the Egyptians because God was fighting the battle for Israel.

In anything in life always give room for God to fight for you. Exodus 14:21-30 says: “And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land and waters were divided…But the children of Israel walked upon the dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand and on their left…Thus the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore”.

Take the case of the Amonites, Moabites and the people of Mount Sir. These people we called the executive conspirators, even though they are friends with each other, but they have found a common cause to be united. They are the people that will conspire together so as for you not to get to your next level. They have decided to come together because they are not interested in your destiny and progress.

They are bent on hindering your progress at all cost. At your breakdown zone, God will make an open show of them.

II Chronicles 20:1-6 says: ”And it came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them others beside the Ammonites came against Jehoshaphat to battle …And said, oh Lord God of our father, art not thou God in heaven? and rules not thou over all king-doms of the heaven? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?“

May I say this, do not be afraid of what the enemy can do, all you need to do is to get closer to God and be very very prayerful. When-ever anything unusual happens or comes around you to disturb you, get back to the control tower. Our God is an unusual God, he will use unusual things in an unusual way to remove unusual problems of your life. When you are confronted with this type of battle, all you need is get yourself prepared for the great battles ahead of you.
