With fans of the Ubisoft franchise complaining about being served up pretty much the same game year after year, it looks like Assassin’s Creed Origins is definitely going to stand out from the crowd.
After deciding not to release a new edition in 2016, in order to “rethink the brand,” it seems the developers haven’t scrimped on new additions this time around. Unveiling the first five minutes of gameplay at Microsoft’s E3 conference in Los Angeles, they offer a refreshing look at what the new game is set to offer upon its release on October 27.
For the newest installment, our hero will be Bayek, an Egyptian sheriff from a long line of warriors tasked with defending Egypt from those attempting to corrupt civilization.
In terms of gameplay, Assassin’s Creed Origins is set to have a greater focus on RPG elements. This time around, you’ll be armed with a bow and arrow, which can be controlled in first-person mode, as well as a pet eagle to fly overhead and scout the area.
Finally, the mini-map has been replaced by a compass at the top of the screen. All in all, it’s pretty promising stuff. Check out a full walkthrough of the gameplay just below:
